Sunday 31st August 2014

A glorious day, just love days like this. The sky at 8.30am was most strange, looked like bubble wrap. Not just a patch but as far as I could see at the front and back garden.
Amazed at the number of Spiders about, sure sign of Autumn.
Good day pruning in the fruit cage. These Tayberries have the biggest thorns imaginable. Should complete the job tomorrow.
Found time to take part in the ice bucket challenge with my chosen charity the Prostate Cancer Research Unit. Not sure how much pledged but a fair bit. Thanks all.

Saturday 30th August 2014

A little overnight rain but the day was good being very mild with fair amount of sun.
Enjoyed an early morning walk to Southcote, beautiful sunrise.  Not much wildlife about but good to see a Kestrel and Cormorant resting on the wires.
Called at the Leaping Frog Pottery to collect our master pieces, well chuffed with Henry.
Day doing nothing except for pottering and keeping an eye open for anything that moved!
A Common Darter and an 18 spot Ladybird were good to see. Lots of activity on Spider cam. Young Rat made an attempt at catching the Spider(s), what a commotion, right tangled up in the cobweb.

Friday 29th August 2014

Warm day, very sunny during the morning but a little overcast this afternoon.
Topped up the larger pots of shrubs with their  yearly dose of home made compost.
Good to see Barry and Holly this afternoon, catching up with their family news.
Really pleased to spot a Buff Tip Caterpillar, not seen one before.
Was surprised again to see so many different types of Snail, colourful collection?
Interesting night with the three dishes of Hedgehog food. Two dishes eaten 50% but sadly no images, the third dish was licked clean and found on the lawn. Trail camera now set in this area. Hopefully images tomorrow.
Busy on Spider Cam, Ratty appeared again and the Spiders are fascinating to watch but have not a clue what they are up to?

Thursday 28th August 2014

Back to warm weather, most welcome.
In town this morning for no reason other than some retail therapy.
Lawn cut this afternoon and a touch of pond clearing.
Rest of the day spent relaxing and checking on my list of outstanding jobs......?

Wednesday 27th August 2014

A very mild day.
Good news we think. Trail camera captured what certainly looks like a Hedgehog but very blurred so have re-set at a further distance. Hopefully this will give me a clearer photograph.
Not clued up on Spiders but pretty sure a sack of baby spiders are forming?
Sorry to say goodbye to Tan, Pete and William this afternoon. Has as ever been a great week.

Tuesday 26th August 2014

Mild but a very wet day. Did stop for a while during the afternoon before returning early evening.
Visited Jean and Doug during the morning. Not often Tan and Pete have the opportunity to visit. Lots of family gossip to catch up on. Wish you well Jean, doing well so far.
Enjoyed lunch at the Highwayman before heading home. I enjoyed a walk at Fobney with Pete and William in a lul from the rain. Just made it.
After evening dinner we settled down in the Leaping Frog for a few pints and a pub quiz, good evening that. What a way to finish the holiday.

Monday 25th August 2014

What, where did that rain come from. Never stopped all day.
Weather conditions put paid to the family celebration bbq.  Indoor bbq it was and what a success. Great that Elizabeth and Tom could make it completing the family get together.
Think this was the last of the celebrations, it really has been a year. William at just 18 gave us something else to celebrate having just received fantastic exam results. Very proud of our families.
