Thursday 10th May 2018

Very warm and sunny day.
Morning in the garden watering and preparing ready for our Scotland holiday. Every available bird feeder also filled and automated hedgehog and fox feeders in place.
This afternoon we paid our respects to Matthew. I was lucky to have met this chap some two years ago, he inspired me to write more on local and garden wildlife and just shortly before his untimely death he published an article on my life in Whitley during my 45 years living here.
It turned out to be his most successful article in terms of readers responses for which I am immensely grateful.
Matthew's funeral was the largest Reading has experienced in recent years, a most moving experience. RIP Matthew.
