Wednesday 4th May 2016

A glorious day. Very warm and sunny. Good to see the return of the decent weather.
Fencers returned and made good progress today, back tomorrow to finish.
TV unit arrived as expected so a considerable amount of time was spent sorting out cables into this new unit. Shelves up and filled so front room now looking ace. Worth the effort.
Nothing else to report as day taken up by above.

Tuesday 3rd May 2016

A very mild and sunny day. Ideal day for pottering about doing nothing.
Spent another day sorting out the front room, almost there now, book shelves and tv unit r/h of fireplace left, job for tomorrow.
This afternoon I did potter about and spent some time in the hide, very relaxing. Goldcrest very busy on the feeders, particularly the peanut butter. The peanut butter is a hit with most birds actually.
Getting excited at the prospect of swifts arriving soon, there are reports they are in the area.
The one big disappointment this year is the lack of nesting in the garden or boxes, not one. So unpredictable wildlife.

Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May 2016

A mild and sunny day but rain again late afternoon.
Problem with radiators so had to call out the decorator who responded within 30 minutes, not bad considering it is a bank holiday.
Joints had to be reset after being disturbed.
Fencers managed to erect seven panels so a good start. Back on Wednesday now.
I made a start in making the front room habitable again. Curtains up and four book shelves back up.

Sunday 1st May 2016

Another good day, warm and sunny all day
A hard working day with the final clearing ready for the fencers tomorrow. Really has taken it out of me this so next few days resting I think.
This really was a job I had not allowed for and am still pretty upset at seeing the Ivy gone. So many insects and bugs now having to find alternative accommodation. I did my best to assist.
Found a fair few old nests which I have now placed in the bug hotel.
Fingers crossed the fencers turn up tomorrow.
Did spot a yellow brimstone and a comma butterfly today. Good news that.
Pictures 1 & 2 - Last of the ivy being removed.

Saturday 30th May 2016

A glorious day, warm and sunny all day.
Day spent with Janet and Colin at the Tulip and Flower Festival at Stonor House. A big disappointment but after paying our £52 entrance fee we decided to forget the cost and just enjoy the day. No entrance fee was mentioned on any of the press adverts and indeed nor on the flyers so assumed perhaps a modest £5 each approximately of course.
What a complete let down, the tulip and flower festival was in fact a few vases with flower displays in a few of the rooms. Trade descriptions or what?
Pictures are of Stonor House and grounds.

I was also banned from taking photographs which I found extraordinary. On questioning them on why not I was told because it is a private house. Why let us in then....
We left late afternoon after actually enjoying a good walk around the grounds of Stonor.
Thought we would eat at the Highwayman, have eaten there regularly, with the family connection it is a pub we will continue to support, however not good today as now not an all day eatery.
Plan B was the Pack Horse so at long last we could relax and discuss our disappointing day out at Stonor.

Friday 29th May 2016

Another reasonable day.
Day spent further clearing ready for the fencers, seven panels, gate and some posts were delivered this morning. Remaining panels being delivered next week, hopefully. Never used these chaps before.
Decorators finished late this afternoon, main decorator in a bad way however and spent most of the day laying on the floor. A disc in his neck/shoulder went, not looking good for him.

  " 2 & 3 - Preparing for new fence.

Will give the room a few days to dry out before putting everything back like shelves and books. Curtains also to hang of course.

Thursday 28th May 2016

Reasonable day. Wet evening.
Day spent clearing more feather edge fencing, a fair few good boards being retained for future projects.
Decorators doing well, wallpaper today so hopefully tomorrow work will be completed.
Enjoyed evening out with Nigel and Lyn at the Strada Italian in Town. Started discussions on what to do next year to celebrate our 'big one'. Some good ideas put forward.
