Tuesday 8th November 2016

A chilly, dry and overcast day. Lacking sun today.
Today visited Thorp Perrow Arboretum which covers over 100 acres in an area close to Masham. This arboretum is unique to England in as much it was created by one man between 1895 & 1977. An  amazing setting with thousands of trees and shrubs. Was first opened to the public in 1980 when a further 1500 new trees were planted.
None of the trees are identified but have a numbered label and a identification book is available to purchase.
A delightful setting.
Left at 3pm taking the Nidderdale and Wharfedale drive home which was stunning in the extreme with an early evening showing of the sun.
Arrived back in Bramhope at 6pm after another great day out.
Look forward to a few days in the Lake District now.

Monday 7th November 2016

A stunningly beautiful day. Dry, cold and very sunny.
Having parked at Bolton Abbey we then enjoyed a three mile round trip walk through the Valley of Desolation stopping at the Cavendish for soup lunch.
This afternoon drove a round trip to Burnsall, Appletreewick and back to Bolton Abbey and home.
A wonderful day out.

Sunday 6th November 2016

A good sunny morning but by mid day to early evening it was showers, not something we have experienced for some time.
Met up with family for Sunday Dinner at The Ilkley Moor Vaults. A cracking roast and good local beer in good company, what a way to spend a Sunday.
Sadly it was soon time to say our goodbyes for another year, has been a great weekend.

Saturday 5th November 2016

Cold and overcast today.
Most of the day I helped Paul prepare for tonight's family firework party. Swept up leaves, prepared fire, cleaned seats and prepared firework area.
So good to welcome the family late afternoon to this years annual firework party. After an enjoyable meal of mince, wine and beer we then wrapped up and ventured outside to the roaring fire and our display of fireworks.
10pm and the taxi was waiting so look forward now to meeting up again tomorrow lunchtime at The Ilkley Moor Vaults for Sunday dinner.

Friday 4th November 2016

A stunning day. Cold and sunny all day well into the evening.
This morning we all walked to Cragside Farm for morning coffee, with such clear conditions the views over the Dales were spectacular.
This afternoon I wandered alone, a walk I have enjoyed since 1972 through Brearly Wood and Pools Pond. Again with such clear conditions the views were spectacular.
