Monday 4th September 2017

After overnight rain the day turned out pretty good. Certainly not as forecast.
Dentist this morning then rest of the day working on my books. All finished now, delivery next week.
            Not a single moth last night, possibly due to the wet conditions? As is usual two fox cubs and two hedgehogs out on the back lawn last night. My front garden security camera also picked out a fox cub on the front drive.
Good readings on the bat detector again tonight. Thanks for the information Boyo, I did in fact tweet the readings to Berks Bats and British Bat society last night but not heard back.
TechniCol was unable to help me today due to illness so sadly no photographs for a while.

What a contrast in weather, mild but wet most of the day.
A trip to Henry Street this morning for the annual purchase of spring flowering bulbs. This rain actually is ideal for the imminent planting of said bulbs.
Brilliant night for moths again, another first for this year, a large green one.

This afternoon decided to work on my latest books. Nothing connected with wildlife, books on the recent cruise and one as a pressy on the recent golden wedding celebrations.

Hopefully tomorrow I can start posting photographs again. A Mr. TechniCol (Colin) is calling to see what has happened.

Saturday 2nd September 2017

Very warm and sunny day.
Day spent repairing bridge. Eight deck strips had rotten to the point of being dangerous. Plenty of mammal activity, my guess mostly rats. Did expose the network of tunnels the fox family created this Spring/Summer. If they do return in the future I have made provision for a camera.
Superb night for moths, two firsts. Also a good night for bats with readings of 39 & 45.
Good to see the Jays returning. Apart from goldfinches very few birds about at the moment.

Friday 1st September 2017

Very warm day.
Some Autumn clearing today. The cut flower sunflowers cut down, heads removed and drying in the greenhouse. Stems retained for another bug box.
A good night for moths again, on the subject of moths I photographed a silver Y on the lawn this afternoon, nice.
Two fox cubs and two hedgehogs on the back lawn last night. Roland still about in the food store, actually living in the shed, traced its run. Won't be around much longer.
Sadly unable to post any photographs for a while, since the Windows 10 updates it refuses to acknowledge my photographs exist.

Thursday 31st August 2017

A much improved day, warm and sunny.
Most of the day spent at the hospital between x-rays and respiratory. Good news is I am now discharged from the hospital as have made such good progress. A little different from 8 months ago.

Wednesday 30th August 2017

Mild with showers throughout the day.
Day spent on the desktop, am creating two more books. A good day to start as wet outside.
The new moth trap is working well, on average 10 a night with some firsts still cropping up.
Have a rat in the food store again, he won't be there long. Have to be careful as a hedgehog still lives here, or calls in each night.

A very warm day, made the most of as rain due tomorrow.
Another day relaxing, getting to like these relaxing days. Busy days ahead however with the annual Autumn trimming of shrubs and trees.
