A very hot day.
St Peter Port today. Moored out at sea and tenders used to ferry us across to the Port. Had pre booked a trip to Sark but very sadly this was cancelled at the last minute due to lack of interest. This is the second attempt now to visit Sark, pretty annoyed.
Was not going to let this spoil our day out so booked a trip over to the Island of Herm. This did not disappoint and certainly made up for the cancelled trip.
Walked for miles along the cliff top, no traffic on the Island, so very peaceful. Only traffic are two quad bikes. The one hotel does not have televisions nor wifi or telephone system.
Absolutely loved the Island for its beauty and of course history.

A very hot day.
In port at Zeebrugge today and another pre booked coach trip covering the Belgian coastline and countryside.
First stop was at the medieval village of Damme. In the thirteenth century it was the port for Bruges. Spent a little time walking around this picturesque village which also has the oldest hospital in the world.
From here we drove to the coastal resort of Knokke. This is a very popular Flemish coastal town that offers something for everyone. Anything for the beach, hiring of sedgeways and large trikes to high fashion. Good restaurants on the beach and being such a warm day this was a must do.
A superb day out, next port of call is St Peter Port.

Woke up to find we had already docked at Rotterdam. Not the best view from the balcony?
After breakfast we found our coach (pre booked) for a day touring and a canal trip in Amsterdam.
Drive to Amsterdam was spectacular, lots of windmills of course. One stood out for me, a thatched roof one.
The canal trip also spectacular but did surprise me. Did not appreciate how the canal system branched out, also how wide the canals were, more like rivers?
Enjoyed a couple of hours in Amsterdam brousing the shops. Plenty of tulips for sale of course but was amazed at the ease you could purchase cannabis. In the form of lolly pops, choc bars, seeds and plants.
A good day out with a good introduction to Amsterdam, next port of call is Zeebrugge.

Left home at 9.30am, picked up Nigel & Lyn then on to Southampton and embarkation on the Queen Elizabeth. Drinking coffee on the balcony at 11am. Amazing effiency by Cunard.
A day on board ship with sailaway at 8.30pm en route to Rotterdam.
