Wednesday 6th February 2019

Mild day but changed tonight again for strong wind and heavy rain.
Really enjoyed our day out with Carol and David. Morning coffee at their house in a brilliant position overlooking Mount Snowdon.
After catching up with gossip we enjoyed lunch at the National Slate Museum before spending time visiting this one amazing museum. Apart from creating a car park the museum site is just as it was from when the slate quarry closed in 1969. A true working museum stopped in time.
We finished the day with a circular trip around Snowdonia starting from the Llanberis Pass. What some magnificent views, Carol knew the best view points for photographs which of course pleased me big time! So surprised at the lack of snow on the peaks which of course always makes a good photograph. Views were still pretty magnificent however.
Arrived back at the hotel late afternoon. After the thanks and goodbyes to Carol and David we slumped on the bed for an hour before happy hour at the bar! 
The weather tonight is atrocious, have never seen horizontal rain in such appalling conditions before.
Does not look good for tomorrow, a day at Bodnant Gardens and Betws-y-Coed. Oh dear, good job brought wet weather gear.

Tuesday 5th February 2019

Mild day but became wet and windy tonight. 
A good day spent exploring Anglesey, lovely countryside, clearly a sheep farming Island. Have never seen so many sheep.
Had expected to spend some time exploring Llanberis late this afternoon but sadly it became very dark and it was clear the weather conditions were changing. Change it did for strong wind and heavy rain.
Hope it clears up for tomorrow as meeting up with friends who live in Llanberis.

Monday 4th February 2019

Cold day from Reading to Wales. Left home at 9.30am and arrived in Llanberis at 4.30pm for short break staying at the Victoria Hotel.
Weather conditions pretty much the same throughout the country, certainly no sign of snow in Wales.
To the week ahead then. A day on Anglesey planned for tomorrow.

Sunday 3rd February 2019

Cold but gloriously sunny all day. Temperature reached 8c this afternoon. Snow still hanging around, coming week is looking mild so will soon clear.
All about packing cases today for our impending break to Snowdonia. Going to be a wet week which could spoil things a bit.
All the usual birds busy feeding today. Eating loads, never seen so many blackbirds ax we have at the moment. 
All the trail cameras are set and extra feeders in place, have done all I can to help our feathered friends. Already I will be pleased to be home and haven't left yet!

Saturday 2nd February 2019

Very cold but actually felt warmer as sun was out all day. Beautiful sunset tonight.
Visit to Henry Street this morning to stock up on coal and logs. Funny really, I cut branches up for the log pile then go and buy logs for the fire!
This afternoon checked out the SD cards. Foxes out again last night with just the one using the den. Female blackcap still busy on the peanut butter feeder, no other surprises.
Lorna managed some good images of our friendly pigeon being stroked by himself. 

Friday 1st February 2019

1st. February and loads of snow. Looking just stunning out there. Temperature never moved above zero.

A day at home today to appreciate the garden and wildlife coping in the snow and ice. A fair few photographs taken as you can imagine but sadly still missing the Fieldfares and other winter birds. Plenty of apples on the lawn so have done all I can to entice.

Managed some decent images of great spotted woodpecker, jay, blackbirds, dunnocks, goldfinches and my friendly pigeon.

My friendly pigeon, not mentioned before but have just the one pigeon that stands out from the rest. It likes a cuddle, every morning she will appear and expects a cuddle before starting to eat. Twitter folk have posted this is most unusual and wondered if it is a racing pigeon. Definitely a wood pigeon.

The pair of foxes were enjoying the snow last night but only one entering the den. 

Re the snow, I photographed the garden at 9.30pm, 2.40am and 8.30am. All images in natural light, amazing comparisons.

Coldest night/day so far this winter. -6 overnight, 4c this afternoon.
After time spent breaking ice in the water dishes and topping up feeders I spent rest of the day working on project book. Taking some time this is, up to June now.
