William left for home early this morning, was a pleasure to welcome him here for the few days. Great times.
The day for us was all about the University reunion event held at Browns in the Oracle. Sixty invites sent out and fifty six attended, great result. Good work from the organising committee. Lorna being part of the team. The event provoked many memories and was a pleasure to meet so many work colleagues we had not seen for decades.
I was asked to be the official photographer, with permission granted from the Oracle I was at ease taking photographs. Thankfully photographs turned out well so a good record of the event. I will also design a book.
A really good day.

A day in the garden. Dug out another two sacks of home made compost. Blocked up any vulnerable areas around the food store to try and stop the squirrel entering.
SD cards confirmed still the pair of hedgehogs and foxes out each night. Pied wagtail collected food all through the day, flying off to the front. Returns very quickly so think it may be nesting in the bay tree.
Wet, cold and overcast with temperature only reaching a high of 5c this afternoon.
William staying with us for a few days so limited reporting. Not much about anyway today with it being so wet.
After a cold and misty start to the day the rest of the day turned out mild and sunny. Temperature reached 13c this afternoon.
What a day, on my morning walk around the garden I was confronted by a red legged partridge at the bottom of the garden. The bird flew over to my neighbour after being spooked by me.
I then went into next door for a better photograph which I managed before the bird took flight again over the rooftops towards the town.
A male pied wagtail turned up a few times ground feeding at the bird feeder.
Tufty has taken a liking to fat nibbles and currants so will have to find another type of feeder to deter. A few days ago I mentioned Tufty being the culprit for breaking into the bird feed store. The chewed lid was now not a deterrent so the time had come for further action. It coincided with a cat killing a squirrel so thought problem solved.
Today I noticed the lid in place but had been moved, with my back turned a squirrel was in again, lid off and now enjoying a feast of sunflower hearts. I watched as the squirrel made its way out of a hole the rats had made a while ago. Hole now blocked.
Trail cam' SD cards confirmed just the one fox and hedgehog out last night.
Project Books - the three Garden Wildlife 2018 books ordered today. Delivery expected in approximately two weeks.
Where do I start with the weather today. Started the day a little cooler as of late, then sun and blue sky, then dark clouds at lunchtime with showers, then at 3pm a sleet storm with the ground looking as though we had experienced a snow storm, then at 4pm sun and blue sky, then at 5pm rain and as I type this post at 9pm it is still raining. Temperature fluctuated between 10c and 15c.
Nothing else to report as day taken up with the British Gas, trying to find cause of loss of water affecting the pressure. Took a while but all good now.

Turned out to be a lazy day. Final proof reading of project books now complete, now have to wait until the printer confirms their Spring Offer, it is the only way I can afford this project!
SD cards confirmed one squirrel less in the garden, a local cat was seen with one on the back lawn. The pair of hedgehogs and foxes were in the garden over the weekend.
Not a lot else is happening, very few birds about today but lots of bees and hoverflies. Two moths in the moth trap last night.
Thought I would sit and enjoy the sun and watch bee activity in the wildlife plants area this afternoon. Clearly went to sleep as woke up when my phone started ringing, had been asleep for two hours, very relaxing!

A day in the garden after a little bit of a lay in.
Watered all the plant pots and new wildflower plants. Four large sacks filled with home made compost. About 50% of the compost bin now emptied.
All my bonsai trees trimmed for another year and topped up with soil.
Lots of bees and hoverflies enjoying the recent planted wildflower plants. A male hairy-footed flower bee was identified by one of my followers.
A pied wagtail appeared in the garden this afternoon.
Squirrel has now chewed through the dustbin lid. I upturned a large clay pot onto the lid as a deterrent but clearly had not worked.
