Thursday 10th November 2016
Glorious day, still plenty of snow, mild, sunny, just brilliant.
Today decided on a drive to Waswater one of my favourite Lakes. Chose to take the Wrynose Pass where I expected to see winter wonderland views.
Stopped at the Britannia pub for coffee before commencing the climb. The Pass did not disappoint, just amazing views. Was stopped by a Ranger at one point warning me of treacherous conditions at the peak (a car had already left the road). He did say I should be ok as had good wide wheels. My word, was grateful for the warning. Car was sliding on the slush but handled well. The car that had left the road was not looking good, just hope driver and passenger(s) are ok.
An amazing drive over this Pass to Waswater, stopped at Waswater Inn for a welcome lunch before enjoying a walk and chance to take some decent photographs. Such amazing weather conditions here, changing by the second from almost dark to bright sun. Just so incredible.
The drive back to the Travellers Rest gave us another chance to experience further stunning weather conditions. At one point the brightest of rainbows appeared and against the snow as you can imagine the views were amazing.
A fabulous day but the day became even more amazing....
Just finishing a good steak when Lorna overheard a lady on the next table refer to Oxford, they engaged conversation and it transpired they originated from Reading. I then began a conversation with ones husband and within moments after engaging eye contact we realised we had met before. This is somewhat astonishing, we worked together at Reading University between 1967 & 1975. You can only imagine it turned out to be a late night.
What a day?
