A mild day but from 5.30pm it was so different. Heavy rain and wind. As I type this blog at 9.30pm it is as bad. Lost for words on this years late spring weather conditions!
Quality day in the garden, weeding, tying in Tomatoes, trimming Stinging Nettle border and Pond Dipping.
Margaret and Paul are staying with us next week so was anxious to tidy up to show off a bit!
Spotted a Coal Tit on the feeder (screwed up on the photograph) this morning. Not seen one before so pretty pleased with this sighting.
Interesting to note Mummy Woody showing young the insects on the Silver Birch Tree, they were climbing the tree just like a Tree Creeper!
Jay spent all day non stop feeding the young with Monkey Nuts. Nest in a tree over the road but hopefully will see the joung in the garden once fledged.

A pretty good day, warm and sunny most of the day.
Managed to get a full day working on the Decking, electrics installed and furniture in place. All looks pretty good. The Water Feature has still to arrive and the Rope still has to be fixed then the Project is complete!
Young Woodpeckers, Starlings, Goldfinches, Doves, Sparrows and Jays are munching through food as fast as I am filling the feeders. Good to see though.
Spotted a very pale blue Damsel Fly I had not seen before, rested on the Beech Hedge long enough for a photograph.
Good to see Lulu and Clive for Fish & Chip supper. Ploughed through over 1000 photographs of their recent holiday to the Galacagos Islands, superb.

A much improved day, mild and dry.
Day spent laying a Slate Path leading from the Side Gate to the new Decking area and a Brick Path from the Useful Room Decking to the Water Butts at side of the House. If dry tomorrow it will be the Electrics to complete.
Been a good day for watching the young Birds being fed. Starlings and Woodpeckers mostly. No sign of the Jay today after yesterdays washout. He particularly looked like a drowned rat!

Heavy Rain all day. Month's rainful in one day. Heat on in house as was also cold. Needlesss to say no outside work today.
Following the Roof Hatch accident Bob from Cameo Carpets called to inspect damage and quote accordingly. He was pretty shocked by what he saw and observed how lucky no one was injured. If we had been on the Stairs god only knows.
Rang Insurance Company who are happy for me to submit estimate, no inspection required. Replacement Hatch, Wallpaper and Paint damage I will do myself. So annoying after only recently re-decorated.

Dry and mild day.
Being dry I was able to make good progress on the Decking Project. Steps, Posts, Base Rails, Trellis and the Bonsai Tree's Platform now all complete. Just the Rope and the Electrics now to complete the project.
Completed Felling the Judas Tree, very sad as grew this tree from a seedling 36 years ago. Have started another but will be some years before it looks like a tree!

Not hot but a good warm, dry day.
Quality day spent with Emma, Callum and Alec. Helped/advised Callum in setting up an Observatory to see his Painted Ladies progress.
Callum at 9 years also had me on playing football. Not played since School days!
In afternoon enjoyed a walk round Bittern Nature Reserve in Guildford. So many young Ducks, always good to see. Also loads of Damsel Flies and other insects about. A great afternoon.

Another wet and very windy day.
Have decided to give up on Vegetable Gardening, time and again I lose what has taken weeks to grow. The wind today has flattened the Broad Beans and Onions
Spent another wet day working on the Decking, good job it is treated timber I am using. Just cosmetic jobs to do now and the Rope Hand Rail which will complete this phase of the project.
Not sure what my Birds are up to but witnessed another fight today. One Bird was pushed off the fence (see picture).
Looking forward to Curry Meal tonight at Ian and Savitri. Have recently returned from a holiday in China so should be an interesting evening exchanging holiday pictures!
