What a wet day, never stopped all day, pretty distressing.
Mum over for the day, very weak now, not sure how many more times we will get her over here now. Not good getting old, she is 92 so has done very well actually.
Photographs today (taken yesterday) are of the Decking project now completed after some four months hard work.
A beautiful day, how summer days should be!
Bought a Climber and a couple of plants for the Water Feature from Henry Street during the morning. Afternoon planted them up and tidied up the decking area so I could at last announce the Project now complete after months of planning and heavy work. All worth it in the end!
Woody entertained during the day taking a keen interest in the Nesting Box. Hopefully next Spring it will be put to good use?!

A pretty good day until the evening when we experienced yet again more heavy rain.
Managed to get the lawns cut during the morning. Rest of the day spent sweeping and tidying the Decking Project. Can now announce the Project is now finished! Photographs tomorrow.
Had great fun watching a Family of Crows finishing up fatty bits dropped from the Fat Balls hanging on the Silver Birch Tree.
On the day the Butterfly Count commenced I was lucky to see a Red Admiral on the Alphine Border.

Dull, mild day with very heavy showers by evening.
Spent time trimming Tomato Plants of their leaves. Need the sun now to ripen the Tom's.
Runner Bean Plants are the worst I have ever experianced, leaves completely chewed so no flowers forming. Veg a dead loss this year.
Surprised to see the Squirrel today. Only seen it three times in 38 years. Was after the Monkey Nuts which appear to be the most popular food at the moment.
Enjoyed a good evening with Jill and Geoff at the New Inn. Geoff at 62 has decided to retire at the end of the month. Is a very keen walker and traveller and wishes to pursue more of this with more travel in the UK.

Can the weather conditions really get any worse. We did get a dry spell first thing but rest of the day and evening was very wet.
My day was spent looking after Doog the Dog. Clive was in hospital at 7am for an 8am operation to put right his Shoulder & Biceps. Lulu and Lorna spent day in Town shopping. We are pretty proud of Lulu after taking charge and dealing with an emergency on the Bus. An Elderly Lady collapsed on the Bus, Lulu placed her in the recovery position then called for an Ambulance. The Lady was with her13 year old Grandaughter who was very grateful for the quick action applied. Will probably never find out what was the problem but well done Lulu.
Carpet Fitters arrived to replace Stair Carpet, grrrrrrrrrrrrr - wrong colour delivered. Now another delay.

What a day, cracking morning and part afternoon then it was as if we were on another planet. Thunderstorm, hail, wind and the heaviest of rain.
Out early this morning to see the Olympic Flame in Hartland Road / Basingstoke Road. Very exciting, large crowds added to the atmosphere. The Met' Police Bikers did a great job with their Hi 5's, kids loved it.
Afternoon started good with me starting to fix the Rope to the Deck Posts, that was until the weather changed as described above. Never will get this job finished?!
Unable to capture but watched in amazement a Sparrow Hawk just fly down to the lawn at speed and take of with a Starling.
Just was not quick enough with the camera.
Pictures 1 - 3 - Crowds in Hartland Road for the excitement of seeing the Olympic Flame. Only a few still pictures as have taken 2 hours of DVD footage.
Pictures 4 - 6 - Rope fixing came to an abrubt end when the weather changed for the worse. A poor young bird came to rest on the rope I had just fixed, rather stunned and soaking wet.

Morning spent painting the Picture Frames.
Afternoon and evening spent at the Madjeski Stadium for the arrival of the Olympic Flame. Rain kept away until the very moment the Flame arrived then the Umbrella's were activated! We were undercover so ok. Pretty disappointed with the celebrations, but have to take into account it was a free event. Look forward to tomorrow now as it leaves Reading for Theale.
