Sunday 19th August 2012

A hot day, brilliant.
Enjoyed an early morning walk to Southcote Lock in bright sunshine. It a joy to be out, the meadows are at the Summer best now attracting Damsel Flies, Butterflies, Slugs and Snails! Within the hour I was walking 'something' caught a Crayfish and smashed it on the towpath. Most unusual inso much I had not seen this before on this stretch of the Canal.
Almost caught a Heron with a Fish, a few seconds late. Was a large Fish which the Heron smashed into the water a few times presumably to kill the prey?
Rest of the day spent relaxing in the garden watching Leaf Cutters, Butterflies and Bees in action round the Pond and the Wild Flowers mostly.
All pictures taken on the morning walk.
