A very warm day spent at Foxton near the Town of Market Harborough. Good Pub lunch in the village of Gumley before the Canal walk at Foxton.
Foxton is famous for the 10 Lock system at only 7' wide. In busy times it can take up to 5 hours to navigate. In the early days Engineers built a Barge lift which operated on a rail system with two cradles to counter balance. Ther were two holding pools at the bottom of the incline, once the Barges were positioned the cradle would lift and start the incline to the top. Sadly only the rails remain with the original line of the Canal now dried up.

" 2 - After five locks there is this passing pool.

Evening spent at the Hunters Lodge Hotel at Cottingham as visiting the Bird Fair at Egleton tomorrow.
