Sunday 7th April 2013

Another superb day with plenty of sun although was a little more chilly today.
Morning spent at a Somerset Hamlet called Staith where the RSPB & WWT are working on the Great Crane Project. The Cranes can be seen here in the wild within the Somerset Levels. Each spring eggs are collected from east Germany and transported to the breeding unit at Slimbridge. Once hatched and the young birds are 12 weeks old they are moved for release at the enclosure on Somerset Levels. After a few more weeks they are  then released into their new life in the wild.
That is the good news, the very bad news was seeing seven dead Badgers this morning while driving the country lanes of Somerset. All on the verge and not showing signs of road kill. Is this something to do with the Cull I wonder?
After a good Pub lunch we left for home arriving early evening.
Spooky - Landlady came from Bracknell. A couple also eating originated from Leeds and brought up in the Village Lorna's Sister lives. This couples Son now lives in Reading.
