Friday 9th May 2014
What a cracking day, windy but sunny most of the day.
The day I have been waiting for - Swifts have arrived. Once again flying around 483. Astonishing. My CD Swift call is now ready for action, have informed the neighbours not to be alarmed if they see a CD player hanging out the bedroom window!
Female Great Spotted returned again and saw the first Damsel Fly of the season. Bit of sun and it all takes off.
Blue Tits still have eyes closed but skin now getting darker by the day. Have bought dried bugs to supplement what the Adults find about the garden.
Starlings are something else. Adults hardly fed them today, making many flights to the entrance clearly trying to encourage leaving nest. One Starling is all but out so think tomorrow will be the day. At least two groups of young Starlings are feeding from our garden. Filled the insect suet stick feeder three times today.
