Thursday 1st November 2018.
Mild, dull, misty most of the day although it did cheer up somewhat by late afternoon.
Met farmer Phil this morning at Rectory Farm (Eyebrook Wild Bird Feed) to collect my winter supply of bird feed. Have been purchasing from Eyebrook for a few years now as grow so much themselves on this family farm. Was interesting to visit and learn a little of the farming procedures in producing such feed.
The farm surrounds and overlooks Eyebrook Reservoir at Rutland and have developed walks which guide you to some fantastic views. Not so fantastic today however as very misty.
Enjoyed lunch at the Crown pub in Uppingham. This is where I stay for a few days in August when visiting the Birdfair.
This afternoon called in to Egleton Nature Reserve where conditions were a little brighter. Plenty of bird activity which you would expect from such a reserve. Never disappoints.
Back at Finch's Arms in time for a welcome pint or two of Red Kite and a juicy sirloin steak. I like holidays!
