Sunday 11th March 2012

A very warm sunny day, temp' at mid afternoon 22c.
Up early this morning for a walk along the Kennet to Southcote. Some of the Shrubs now in Bud, Spring has arrived. Good to see Ducks and Geese on the new lakes created in the Autumn at Fobney Lock. Still not open as waiting for the Shrubs and Trees to take hold. A good view however from the tow path.
Spent rest of the day working on the Alpine Border. Now 50% full of compost. Hot work today. Lorna re-potted Alpine Plants from excisting border.
As work is close to the Bird Feeders it meant sadly not much seen today of the Birds. Did witness an incredible fight between a Jay and a pair of Magpies. Guess it was a territory issue.
After many days listening to Croaking from the Pond I did today see the Frogs. Am sure more Frogs will appear in the coming week with the forcast warm all week.
Picture 1 - Water, Barge, Blossom and Ducks on the tow path - this is English Spring at its best.
"     2 - Sky Reflection at Fobney Weir.
"     4 - Ducks and Geese on the newly formed lakes at Fobney Meadow.
"     3 - Heron in reflective mood at Southcote Lock.
"     5 - First barrow of compost in new Alpine Border.
"     6 - First signs of Frogs in the Pond.
"     7 - Tulips in full sun mid afternoon.
