Friday 6th February 2015

A cold, sunny winters day. Temp' did manage a high of 7c this afternoon.
Not the day I had planned. At 10pm last night I emailed an enquiry to British Gas stating on occasions a smell of rotten eggs is noticed in the airing cupboard. At 7.30am this morning SGN (emergency crew) arrived and detected a leak and closed the system down. Shortly after a BG engineer arrived and confirmed again a leak but at 2.30pm had to advise unable to tell where and could only assume it was in the pipework and not an appliance. This means a complete re-run of pipework but not until the old pipework (lead) is removed and isolated. Will take at best 48 hrs but depends of course how difficult this may be. I know the pipework is lead and chased into the plaster. I am dreading this work. Thankfully we are fully insured but the mess etc does not bare thinking about. Re-papering, re-decorating and re-boarding in the kitchen and wc.
Not going to be a good February. No heat or hot water so good for the open fire and convector,
Picture 1 - Gas turned off.
"     2 - This bird will require anaddins after this hit?
