Monday 11th November 2013
Woke to a spectacular frost, the day soon warmed up giving us a very mild, sunny day.
A relaxing walk at Crag Farm on Cukrigge Moor in the ancient Parish of Adel was enjoyed. The farm and nature reserve is now managed by the Caring for Life charity. The 17th century Barn has now been renovated and houses a tea room/restaurant. All food is either grown on the farm or sourced locally. A truly inspirational experience, and only a short walk from Margaret and Paul's house. The charity also have a very strong programme of 'feeding the birds' giving work to local under privileged youngsters. It was great to see them obviously enjoying feeding the birds, brought a lump to my throat to watch them - and what a success with Tree Sparrows, Long Tailed Tits, Bull Finches, Thrushes, Blackbirds plus all the common birds. Will certainly pay them another visit next year.

" 2 - This was spooky, a plane on the roof of a farm building? Optical illusion of course. Leeds/Bradford Airport was two miles away, the barn was in front of me - have to assume the plane was on the runway giving the illusion of landing on the roof!
