Wednesday 18th March 2015

Arrived in Iceland at 9am this morning. Windy and cold or what - so windy we had to help each other to stand up and so so cold. This afternoon we experienced the most amazing snow storm. Never seen anything like it. The snow ploughs were something else, drove in threes at breakneck speeds. This week has been the worst weather conditions for Iceland since their records began.
I had pre-booked a 4 x 4 off roading trip to the volcanic/mountainous regions of Iceland which in conditions like this made the trip even more dramatic. How those Jeeps do not flip over when almost vertical I will never know. A fantastic day out in the extreme.
Very sadly the evening trip to see the Aurora Boreakis Centre and search for the lights was called off due to the extreme weather conditions.
Showtime tonight was a sublime selection of swing songs as presented by the Azores showteam.
Azores was due to leave Iceland at 11pm but despite help by three tugs the strong winds beat them. I managed some dramatic images through the ships monitor as this was being played out. Ship finally left at 4.30 am, behind schedule now. Two days at sea now to catch up before reaching the Faroe Islands
