Monday 13th August 2018

Summer has returned. Warm and sunny today.
Day spent on project 'decking repairs'. Four deck boards under the bbq had dry rot and required replacing. Took all day but job done and safe to walk on! So with a new bbq and replacement decking we are now all set for next year. Can't believe we had only one bbq this year.
Trail camera picked out some good images. Only one hedgehog which surprised me, being a wet evening thought they would be out for slugs and snails? Foxy also on its own last night enjoying mostly hedgehog food.
Excitement of the day was watching wasps devour an old tree stump. Has been going on for a while actually but thought all along it was a beetle. But no, it was wasps. Need to watch out for the flight path now to see where they are building a nest.
For the first time since the winter months a starling roosted in a nest box last night, may have been wet but not cold.
