Wednesday 8th August 2018

Hot and sunny this morning but changed to much cooler conditions this afternoon and evening.
Most of the day was spent at the Whitley Museum, introduced to the newly appointed curator. Strange this, started my working career in a museum and ending my working life at a museum. Am sure some jokes can be made of this!!?
Awoke this morning to find a peacock butterfly on the front room sofa. How on earth did it get there, never use this room in the summer and besides it would have four rooms to negotiate from the back door? Good to see however as very few peacocks about this year.
The usual night time activity with foxes, hedgehogs taking centre stage.
A stunning silver Y moth in the trap this morning, also a shield beetle. The parakeet was in the garden again last night, appears to be a habbit this, just visiting in the evening.
Another dragonfly emerged from the pond today, sadly I missed it but assuming a southern hawker.
