Was grateful to my old mate Boyo (Doug) for warning me on what I may see looking skywards between 12 - 2am. Despite feeling pretty grotty I indeed stepped outside at midnight and WOW. I am no astronomer but understand it was a meteorite breaking up that created the scene.
