Another scorcher of a day.
Despite the heat I managed to replace the well rotted trellis work against the neighbours fence. Jot work but looks good and worth doing.
Another good night for moths with the buff tip causing some excitement. Yesterday it was on the outside of the trap bucket but today was inside and had laid eggs.
On the advice of my mate Doug the bucket is now on its side and placed under the laburnum tree. Buff tips particularly like laburnum and it was this tree the trap was under in the first place. Will not be able to use as a moth trap for some weeks as we wait to see if the eggs do in fact hatch.
Was also good to see a stag beetle on the decking tonight, only the second one I have seen this year.
Then to finish the day, while relaxing after a good bbq a hedgehog appeared about 10pm. Brilliant news this after finding a dead one last week.
Proved to have been a good week for garden wildlife, just a shame the swifts are not about more regularly.
