Good warm day with temp' reaching 16c mid-day. Contrast to Scotland where Kerry and Sarah have told me they have 8" Snow. They can keep it!
Another day shifting Gravel, wildlife path now finished and looking good. Just all the bricks to shift now. These will be used to create a path at the side of the Garage. This will be a Water Storage area of three water butts when complete.
Very dissapointed with my Birds Nesting activity this year. After building a nest, then destroying it the Robins just do not appear interested. The pair today were feeding from the feeders and lawn so will just have to hope they show some sign of interest later in the month? Woody not been seen for about ten days now so can only assume they are nesting somewhere, not in my box which the Great Tit is still eyeing up.
The RSPB Bird Count has been confirmed and the Starling is the worry. Numbers well down on prev' years. I had seven fighting over the Fat Balls this afternoon so no shortage here!
Rat seen running across the lawn so all traps and cages set again. Seemed to run into the Ivy Hedge so perhaps Foxy will sniff them out tonight?
Good to see David Lister today, not seen since Julie's wedding 13 years ago. Was on the way to Reading / Leeds match so unable to stay long, have promised to make contact for a catch up.
Picture - Mason Bee (I think, help please Boyo!) on the monkey nut feeder table. Seemed to be enjoying the warmth of the Sun as was there for some 30 mins.
Cant tell what the bee is Pump without any sense of scale. You would need a ruler next to it and different shots (in focus). Mouth parts would help as would underside and clear view of legs.
ReplyDeleteBut I can tell it isnt a true mason bee. It may be a mining bee (possibly A.flavipes) or even a small leafcutter but I can't tell from the photo I'm afraid.
