Saturday 1st September 2018

Very warm and sunny, a high of 27c today.
A day working in the garden. All my hydrangea cuttings repotted to get them through the winter months. Was very successful with the pink flower cuttings last year, this year have tried with the blue and red. Certainly have good root growth at the moment.
Also strimmed the wildflower area, raked and placed strimmings in the wood pile. Needs to be lightly forked over before reseeding with different seed.
A good night for moths. Star of the night was a yellow brimstone, first one this year. Many more moths in the trap with one other as a first for the year.
Very little else about last night, just the one hedgehog and fox. Today saw more insects on shrubs from 14 spot harlequin ladybirds to shield beetles. Also noticed vine weevils, these I don't want.
