Sunday 2nd September 2018
Another very warm and sunny day with temperature again reaching 27c this afternoon.
Forked over the wildflower border today, raked and resown with a variety of wildflower seed.
With weather so good it seemed rude not to enjoy a bbq, only the second one this year. Early evening the peace was shattered by two squirrels in the oak tree dropping acorns on to the decking! I suppose tomorrow they will be burying them in the borders?
During the day I removed a small amount of blanket weed from the pond and wax amazed at the amount of small insects it was harbouring. Left to drain before composting.
Small and large white butterflies and speckled wood butterflies busy flying about today but sadly no other species. A bad year for variety of butterflies.
