Monday 12th October 2015

What a cracking day. Mild and mostly sunny. Dry where we were south of Aviemore but apparently pretty wet more north. We were lucky.
Stopped at Aviemore for morning coffee before driving on to Ruthven Barracks and Insh Marshes in the Kingussin area of Scotland. Pretty spectacular but only saw a Heron!
From here a short drive to Loch Laggan where we picked up our jeep and guide for some off roading.
What an afternoon. Scenery again spectacular with the bonus of witnessing deer rutting. Can't put into words how excited I can get!
Because of the stag sightings we over ran our safari by over an hour. A three and a half trip, you can only imagine what it was like both in scenery and wildlife.
Arrived at the hotel late afternoon with no time to change for evening dinner. Good meal of steak on bed of haggis, days do not get better than this.
I ended the day listening to a talk on the introduction/breeding of birds throughout Europe, interesting.
Tomorrow golden eagle watching, one hopes.
