Wednesday 14th October 2015

Can't believe I have a tan from an October holiday here in Scotland. Another brilliant day. Very warm and sunny, not even a breeze.
Sadly, after breakfast it was a case of packing ones cases and saying goodbye yo the Grant Arms Hotel. It has been a fantastic 4 days, lots of memorable moments.
Next stop was Cromarty in the Moray Firth for a pre-booked RIB trip into the North Sea where hopefully we will see dolphin along with many sea birds. Arrived in plenty of time to walk around Cromarty as it was such a lovely day. A complete coastline contrast to what we have experienced in the Cairngorms. Moray Firth 'littered' with redundant oil rigs, monstrous great things but interesting go see non the less.
Before boarding our RIB we found time to call in at the Royal Hotel for a haggis & smoked cheese sandwich and a pint.
Early afternoon and it was time to be hitched into clothing and life jacket that befits such a trip. What did we look like!?
A short walk to the harbour and we were soon seated in Tornado, our RIB for the afternoon. Once again short on words to describe the feeling in being thrust out into the North Sea. Oh my word, what a sensation, talk about exhilarating.
At one point the RIB came to an abrupt stop with the pilot informing us of a basking shark in the area. Only the second time one had been seen this year. Wow, what a moment, swam up to the vessel giving a good chance for a photograph.
Arrived back at port late afternoon to a most stunning sunset, after an amazing experience. May not have seen Dolphins but hey, basking shark, can't be bad.
Once undressed it was the drive back to Inverness, home now for five days visiting family and exploring further areas of this part of Scotland.
Weather looking good for tomorrow as well.
