A very warm day with the most beautiful sunset.
A delightful morning sailing to Duart after another good breakfast. A coach was waiting for the ship at Duart to take us the short distance to Duart Castle. The coach driver (Steve) was the most brilliant guide. Steve was a natural historian, job to explain but he explained the local history and history of the castle in the most interesting way possible yet still driving a coach.
After a couple of hours at the castle it was then an hour scenic drive to Fionnphort. Here it was a short Ferry trip to the Island of Iona.
Iona is only 5 sq miles with a population of 80. It is an Island steeped in religious history, Saint Columba and his 12 disciples.........would suggest Google for history of this Island.
Had time to visit the Nunnery and the Medieval Abbey.
John Smith (Labour leader) is of course buried on the Island.
Lord of the Glens organised a picnic lunch which went down very well in the afternoon sun.
The ferry was ready for us at 5pm for the short trip back to Fionnphort then the scenic drive back to Duart.
Back on Lord of the Glens for evening dinner at 7.30pm before an evening sailing to Oban where we berthed overnight.
Enjoyed an evening walk around Oban taking in the delights of the sunset.
