Monday 26th May 2014
Weather stayed very warm to the end. Last day of this part of the holiday. With only two showers during the week we did well and could never have expected so much sun. Thank you Scotland.
After breakfast we left Fort Augustus to cruise Loch Ness and on to Inverness.
On reaching Urquhart Castle the skipper slowed for a photograph opportunity and a chance to see Nessie that had been spotted earlier this morning.
The skipper, knowing of my interest in Wildlife stopped the ship near Inverness to point out an Osprey nest. What a star he was, what an amazing site/sight. Managed a pretty good photograph but for me it was the watching with my bins. Thanks skipper.
Arrived at Muirtown Basin at 2pm, where we berthed for the rest of the time left.
A coach was waiting to take us on the last trip, a visit to the Culloden battle field and the Clava Cairns which date back to the Bronze Age.
At 7.15pm there was a surprise Captain's Farewell Reception in the lounge followed by dinner.
Captain Brian came to each table with a bottle of Champers ready for the toast to a wonderful holiday with a rather witty speech which only Brian could relate. Brian then further surprised us with his take on Burns Night. It was hilarious. Once the Haggis had been slaughtered it was time for dinner.
After dinner, another surprise. Brian had organised dance troupe to perform a few dances and a final toast.
Brian was the most amazing Captain and made the holiday so enjoyable. Thanks.
