Thursday 10th September 2015

A cracking day, in fact rather hot.
Enjoyed a mornings walk alongside the Thames at Reading this morning stopping at the Whittington Tea Barge for a break and refreshment. Good to see so many peple about enjoying this stretch of the Thames through Reading.
Great progress on the third bridge, will open pretty soon I think. There is a lot of controversy over the metal balustrades that are being positioned this week. I actually like the effect, using the same material as The Angel of the North so no maintenance is required.
Arrived home to enjoy sitting in the garden this afternoon, watching the squirrel feasting on acorns was fun. Not sure how many it actually ate as most appeared to be falling making a right clatter on next doors tin roof to the shed.
Southern Darter Dragonfly was about most of the afternoon, no spent cases as I could see however. Did fish out a fair few larvae while pond dipping however.
National Moth Trapping few days now, 3 days, so will be interested what will show up. Hope the weather holds.
Finished the day with a bbq, staying out until gone 10pm. Peaceful but for the mice rustling the leaves.
