Sunday 25th May 2014

Very warm day.
Today Lord of the Glens sails to Fort Augustus starting with ascending the Neptune's Staircase, the biggest flight of locks on the Caladonian Canal. Following the course of the River Lochy with great views of Ben Nevis. We sailed through the Moy Swing Bridge still in use after 140 years. It is still hand operated and is the only original bridge on the canal.
We continue through the spectacular Laggan Avenue, a narrow 1.5 mile tree lined section of the canal.
Continue sailing to Kytra Lock where I chose to alight and walk the 3 miles to Fort Augustus where we berthed for the night.
After evening dinner we enjoyed a Whisky tasting evening hosted by Fiddlers based in Drumnadrochit. My word had no idea there were so many different Scottish Whiskys.
